9 to 5: Black and Grey

Welcome to my first 9 to 5 outfit post.  I don't really consider myself a fashion blogger, but I really like adding different mixes to my blog and doing outfit posts challenges me to step up my wardrobe a bit.  I always love seeing other bloggers' outfit posts, but since I work a 9 to 5 office job (I'm a legal secretary), some of the super cute outfits they wear I can't really get away with.  So, I thought I would share outfits I wear to work and how I add a little spice to my wardrobe.  And, these posts will be nice to reflect on in the future.  Enjoy!

Weekend Fun in Downtown Naperville

Last weekend, I met some dear friends, Britta and Carol, for lunch in downtown Naperville.   I'm really not one for crowds {come on, I left downtown Chicago to live in the country}, but I really did enjoy spending time in this little downtown area.  Here's some photos from our Saturday adventure:

Always have to stop and smell the flowers.

We had lunch at Ted's Montana Grill.  Seriously, the best burgers and
onion rings around (and I don't even LIKE onion rings!)

Have you discovered Paper Source yet?  This was my first time in one and seriously, I was in PAPER HEAVEN!  (See examples below).

(Downtown Naperville kills when it comes to graffiti art...just saying).

This pink 28 belongs to a lovely Cupcake shop that smelled so good and sold deliciously HUGE cupcakesUnfortunately, I don't remember the name of it.  Does anyone know?

This poor flower was such a huge memory of our day.
We saw it every time we entered the elevator.

If you'd like to know more about downtown Naperville, and possibly visit, you can visit their website here.  {Just a word to the wise, if you go on a weekend, the traffic sucks.  Take the train if you can}.

Announcements/Announcements

Hello dearies:

Happy Monday!  I wanted to share some things that are coming up on my blog.  I've been dreaming up lots of ideas for my little blog.  Things I want to share and things I'm interested in lately.  Things I was interested in before that {sort of} fell off the train.  So, without further anticipation, here are some things that are coming up:

  • Mother's Day Blog Hop: I am so excited to announce that I will be participating in a Mother's Day Blog Hop on May 4-5, 2012.  Me and lots of other talented ladies will be creating goodies to share with you.  Stay tuned!  {Of course, I will be doing a giveaway!  I love giving stuff away.}

(Outfit: undershirt: New York and Company/dress: 6 Degrees (Marshall's)/
cardigan: Merona (thrifted)/Victorian cameo pin: (thrifted from garage sale).
  •  9 to 5 Outfit Posts: Inspired by several fabulous bloggers, I used to do Outfit posts in the past but it unfortunately didn't seem to fit into my lifestyle or offer up too many posts.  But, I've decided to bring Outfit posts back 9-5 style.  I've realized that I can still show my style in my 9-5 wardrobe and share with other people that also work office jobs.  I'll post my first one this week!  {A preview photo is above}.
  • Scrappiness: I've been working on a {hugely huge} wedding album that has been taking up most of my time.  I'm so excited to share {the photo above and} more of the album with you.  I also can't wait to get back to tons of other paper crafts I've been dreaming up and to share all of them.
  • Thursday Night Book Club: I've still been attending my Thursday Night Book Club, and have been reading some really good books lately.  {This month, we are reading The Help by Kathryn Stock}.  I love sharing the books I'm reading to get opinions from other readers.  So these posts will be popping up again.
  • A Day to Remember:  Of course, my day-to-day life will still be popping up in my blog.  It really helps to remember the past and how I felt during/about certain memories.
I hope you will stay tuned for all these adventures.

Instagram Fever!

Good {early} morning all:

Happy Saturday!  Today, I will be meeting some friends for lunch and visiting my Grandma tonight.  Alex is playing in an all-day volleyball tournament.  {The nonstop running never ends=some days we love it and some days-not so much}.  I thought I would share with you some quick Instagram photos that I've been enjoying lately.

  1. Our dear Maria.  She is the sweetest thing {most days}.
  2.  The cutest fur baby {ever}!  My BFF Jessica's dog: BamBam.
  3. Alex and Murphy in a staredown.
  4.  Maria has the most curious ears.  They're always going!
  5. My dear hubby and I.  {One of my favorite photos: at a Blackhawks game}.
  6. We celebrated our first-year wedding anniversary.  I am so lucky to have him in my life.
  7. Jeepers Creepers: Yesterday was Friday the 13th.  Did anything spooky happen? (I made this Halloween treat box several years ago.  I believe the kit I used was the BoBunny Whooligans kit).
  8. My BFF, BamBam, and I.  Hanging out on a Friday night.

Are you on Instagram?  If so, let me know so I can follow you!  You can find me @kelsterjean.

Hope you have a great weekend!

In the Meantime...

Hello dearies:

While I'm working on getting some new goodies up on the blog, I thought I would share with you some good reads I've been enjoying lately:

  • How-To Style a Twisted Side Ponytail (and isn't her red hair just gorgeous?) 4 Ways to Add Lace, and How-To Style a Classic French Braid (still haven't learned this one, btw).  (Sigh) I love my short hair, but sometimes, I wish my hair was longer so I could play with my hair in some of these hairstyles.
  • Favorite Dress Ever I really absolutely love reading this girl's blog.  She is such a style inspiration and her I (literally) drool over her outfits.  She (and a couple other inspirational bloggers) motivated me to start working on a 9 to 5 fashion special for my blog.  (Stay tuned).
  • Ali Edwards blog Can't really pinpoint one certain post because I just love her whole blog....
  • Dear Lizzy and her blog...she really was my first blog I ever started reading!
  • Where My Heart Lives Honestly, these little houses are precious.  Perfect for Easter.
  • Easter Kitty This is seriously the most adorable thing ever.  I would totally do this with the bunnies if they would behave.
Hope you enjoyed some of these links.  Feel free to check out more of the blogs above.  There's tons of good stuff to read on each blog, I just couldn't link them all.

xoxo,
Kelster Jean.

Wishing You A Happy Easter!

From our furry family to yours, wishing you the happiest of Easter's! I hope you enjoyed your holiday. Hubby and I opted out of dining with family and decided to stay home. I'm {unfortunately} feeling under the weather. These photos are from Easter 2011.
