Tidbits...

(1) Made dinner one night when hubby was sick...and it actually tasted delicious!
(2) Sweet sentiments 'to my husband' for our first married Valentine's Day.
(3) A cake full of love (it was so yummy!)
(4) I've been so in love with this deep blue lately...(it was the inspiration behind my last card).
(5-6) I have the most amazing husband ever. These darling earrings are made by him! Yep, that's right. He made these and I wear them nonstop.
(7) Loving life lately....

Inspiration: Junk Drawer Items

Hello everyone:

Hope you are enjoying your weekend. I wanted to share with you a challenge I am hosting over at Club Creating Keepsakes:

As crafters, we find inspiration all around us. I am a person that is constantly inspired by everything I see: things in stores, in magazines, junk mail, scrappy packaging, everything! And, since I am a complete recycle/reuse person, I love collecting little things to use on my projects. So my challenge this week is to: use a junk drawer item on a card.

Below is some inspiration if you want to participate in the challenge:

This little baby is a box my hubby received in the mail from a cigarette company. I throw all my "pretty junk" in it that I one day want to use.

Some of my pretty junk inside the above box: two tags (the "Jolt" tag from a jacket, the "Heart Soul" tag from a shirt), and two packaging items (from some vintage Rick Rack).

And here is a tag I used on a card. This is the "before" of the tag.

And here is the card that I created using the tag.

Tomorrow, I will post a tutorial on how to make this card and the flowers on the card. In the meantime, hop on over to Club CK and participate in the challenge. The random winner selected will receive an RAK featuring SMASH goodies!(Perfect for junk drawer items).

Kelster Jean

With Sympathy to a Fellow Peep

If you are a part of Club CK, you would know that the "peeps" on Club CK share a special bond. We support each other, encourage each other, and are there for each other in times of need.

Last week, we heard one dear peep's father passed away, so some of us got together to send her some love.

{Products used: SEI Granny's Kitchen kit (paper), Great Impressions (stamp), Autumn Leaves Stampology (ink), Studio G (alphabet stamps), other: vintage ribbon}.

This is the first "with sympathy/thinking of you" card I've ever made. I really wanted to stick to cool, soft colors. Nothing too cheery.

How are your "with sympathy/thinking of you" cards made? Are there certain colors you use or stick to? What about the message? I would love to get some tips!

Hugs,

Kelster Jean

I had so many comments and new followers (Thank you so much for the support!) that I decided to pick two people for the giveaway!

pretty card girlie, my funny valentine is Kris of course, he can be a total nerd with his dance moves and randomly the other night doing a running start to the bed and doing a "stage-dive move".

Alex of course loved your comments and it made him laugh.

Now, if you could be so kind as to send me your mailing addresses to: kelsterjean@gmail.com by Thursday, February 9. {Jen, I might have yours already, but send it anyways, just so I know its the right one}.

Now onto the football game. Everyone enjoy!

Just A Boy...Who Loves A Girl.

As a scrapbooker, we tend to take lots of photos that are our most favorite photos. I have hundreds of these! Well, I can say for sure that these two photos are two of my most favorite photos. These photos were taken by hubby and I {of each other} right before we got married. These photos are before the chaos, before the rain/snow, before the friends arrived, before everything. When it was just hubby and I, smiling at each other, knowing we would be together forever after this moment. It was magical!

I recently had an opportunity to finally scrapbook these photos during a round of Chinese Whispers. {If you don't know what this is, feel free to ask!} Unfortunately, I don't like revealing the full layout until all of the ladies have had their turn, but I will give you a sneak peek.

Products used: Paper scraps, Slice {Vintage Findings} cartridge, black pen {Martha Stewart Crafts}, tulle, circle punch, rubons {letters}, glitter glue, vintage ribbon.

Do you have a favorite photo(s) that you have been waiting to scrapbook for the "right time" or "right layout?" What is it?

Enjoy your weekend!

Hugs,
Kelster Jean

Valentine's Blog Hop!!!!!!! (and a Giveaway!)

Welcome to the Valentine's Blog Hop!!!! I hope you're as excited as I am!

You should be arriving here from Stacia's blog. If you aren't, please go back to the beginning at Amanda's blog and start there.

Now, onto the hop. If you don't know the deets, here it goes: All the ladies in the hop were sent the same products to create a Valentine's card with. {A product list can be found below}. So, here's what I created:

My hubby is definitely my funny love every day of the week, so I really wanted to create a card that showed how much I appreciate him making me smile every day.

Products given and used:
Given: My Minds Eye and Pink Paislee (paper), The Twinery, Paper Trey Ink (dies for buttons), Kaiser Crafts (bling)
Extras Used: Cardstock (pink salmon background and off-white), heart ribbon (Pinecone Press kit), Slice holiday expressions cartridge (Valentine), Studio G (mini alphabet stamps), ink, adhesive.

For this card, I began with an {off-white} cardstock background, adhered the pink salmon cardstock and distressed the edges with sandpaper. I then added the {flower} paper, inked the edges, wrapped the heart ribbon around to create an 'x,' and adhered to card. Next, I adhered the die cut {red flower paper} to the card and tucked in the "Valentine" word. I adhered the buttons which I covered with paper {striped} and inked. Lastly, I hand-cut a ribbon strip, inked the edges, and stamped "my funny" and adhered to card.

Now, before you move on, time for the giveaway!
GIVEAWAY RULES: Leave a comment telling me who your funny Valentine is. One entry will be one comment. For an extra entry, become a follower or let me know if you are a current follower. (You will have to leave an extra comment letting me know you are a follower). The winner will receive a "My Funny Valentine" cardmaking kit from TPC Studios and a special surprise goodie! Winner will be chosen by my hubby and will be announced on Sunday, February 5, 2012.Good luck!
